CIMA producer members walk the talk when it comes to the phrase Think Globally Act Locally. Cellulose Insulation can be, and generally is, locally produced because the factories to manufacture Cellulose Insulation are much smaller and cost much less to build than factories to produce most other common types of insulation. Local recycling programs, insulation contractors, and lumber yards minimize the transportation needed to produce and use Cellulose Insulation.
When the raw materials are acquired locally and shipping distances from the factory to the consumer are shorter, there are lower impacts in the form of emissions from vehicles on the environment. Cellulose insulation is produced regionally and has generally shorter shipping distances resulting in lower fuel emissions.
